The anomalies correspond to specific forms of collective violence that deviate from stable political functioning. They are not isolated “errors”, but rather dynamic regimes where mechanisms of cooperation, state monopoly or institutional resolution collapse. From physics, they are equivalent to transitions towards turbulent, metastable or highly dissipative states.
