I. Elements

Title

The elements are the basic pieces of the conflict system: actors, resources and interaction structures. They define who can act, what is in dispute and through what channels the mobilization or violence is transmitted. From physics, these elements are equivalent to state variables, energy sources, network nodes and boundary conditions. They do not explain the conflict on their own, but they determine the space of possibilities within which polarization, escalation or institutional collapse may appear.
